Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the eVitara, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards sustainable mobility. Debuted at the Auto Expo 2025, the eVitara is designed to cater to the evolving needs of modern drivers, offering a blend of performance, technology, and eco-friendliness. With two battery options and a suite of advanced features, the eVitara is poised to make a substantial impact in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

A. Design and Dimensions

1. Exterior Styling

The eVitara boasts a contemporary design that reflects its electric nature while maintaining the robust stance of an SUV. Key exterior features include:

  • A. Aerodynamic Front Grille: A closed-off grille enhances aerodynamics and signifies its electric identity.

  • B. LED Lighting: Equipped with sleek LED headlamps, daytime running lights, and tail lamps for improved visibility and aesthetics.

  • C. Alloy Wheels: 18-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels contribute to reduced drag and a modern look.

2. Dimensions

The eVitara is built on the HEARTECT-e platform, offering a spacious and comfortable cabin. Its dimensions are:

  • A. Length: 4,275 mm

  • B. Width: 1,800 mm

  • C. Height: 1,640 mm

  • D. Wheelbase: 2,700 mm

B. Powertrain and Performance

1. Battery Options

The eVitara offers two battery pack choices to suit different driving needs:

  • A. 49 kWh Battery Pack: Provides a power output of 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque.

  • B. 61 kWh Battery Pack: Delivers 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque, with an extended range of up to 500 km on a single charge.

2. Drivetrain Configurations

Initially, the eVitara will be available in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup. However, plans are underway to introduce an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant featuring the ALLGRIP-e technology, enhancing traction and stability across various terrains.

C. Charging Capabilities

Charging the eVitara is convenient and efficient:

  • A. DC Fast Charging: Allows rapid charging, reducing downtime during long trips.

  • B. AC Home Charging: Compatible with standard home charging setups, providing flexibility for daily use.

Maruti Suzuki is also investing in expanding its charging infrastructure across dealerships and service centers to support EV adoption.

The SUV provides ample space for passengers and cargo:

  • A. 49 kWh Variant: Estimated to start at ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • B. 61 kWh Variant: Expected to be priced around ₹22.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The official launch is anticipated in September 2025, with bookings opening shortly thereafter.
